MA Communication Design student, Diego Sanguino, has participated with these designs in the D&AD Awards 2018. The prestigious awards has represented the very best in design and advertising during more than 50 years. The winners of the different pencil levels will be announced during the D&AD Festival this week.
Diego chose the brief for JCDecaux for #LondonIsOpen campaign. You can read the following lines where he explains his inspiration for such an amazing project:
“Regardless of where you come from, your background, gender, beliefs or sexuality. London is an open codelock and you are its passcode. Featuring some of the 300 spoken languages in London and the most famous icons of the city. The London 3D codelocks call out to be grabbed, as if the city was held in one’s hands waiting to be opened.
The idea of using multilingual codes portrays the diversity of the city and shows how cultures from all over the world fit harmonically in London. The locks embody the positivity and fun spirit of a place full of new opportunities, a place where dreams come true and that is, and will remain, open to the world.”
“#LondonIsOpen is a major campaign – launched by the Mayor, Sadiq Khan – to show that London is united and open for business, and to the world, following the EU referendum. It shows the world that London remains entrepreneurial, international and full of creativity and possibility. It reassures the more than one million foreign nationals who live in London that they will always be welcome, and that any form of discrimination will not be tolerated.
London is the best city in the world. We’re entrepreneurial, international and outward looking. The key ingredient of our city’s success has been the flow of brilliant ideas and talent from across the globe. Our city is comfortable in its diversity, proud of its history and optimistic about its future. London is open.(london.gov.uk)”
